Full Text
There are limited examples of practical applications and activities on how the geography curriculum, which was prepared in 2005, updated in 2011 and underwent a comprehensive change in 2018, can be implemented. In this study, the expository teaching approach is examined which advocates the formation of the most used cognitive and meaningful learning in geography lesson teaching. The importance of planning teaching activities was explained and a lesson plan template was created. Then, a lesson plan on “The Inner Structure of the Earth” is presented as example of how the expository teaching strategy could be aplied in geography classes. The aim of the study is to examine the expository teaching approach which is one of the most used strategies in teaching geography lesson and to prepare a sample lesson plan and suggestions about how this strategy can be moved to classes. The method of document examination and descriptive-interpretive analysis technique were used in the research. By using the materials and actively participating in the students, the subject was processed and avoided from rote learning. It was revealed that the the expository teaching approach was widely used in geography lessons. The subject that will be taught in geography teaching with the expository teaching approach through presentation should be elaborated from general to specific. The student should be avoided from being a passive recipient. It is hoped that the study will contribute to the work to be done.

The Relationship between Pre-service Primary Teachers’ Skills of Conceptualization and Their Attitudes towards Reading
Abstract
|
Full Text
A prerequisite for being a good reader is to have a positive attitude. Maintaining an attitude towards reading is a long process occurring as a result of experience and permanent learning. Therefore, it is necessary to help students like reading and to promote reading habit at very early ages. An individual having a positive attitude towards reading is expected to possess conceptualized vocabulary, not a rich vocabulary. Conceptualization is to add a new meaning to an object or an entity beyond its existing meaning. The aim of this study in which mixed method is used is to determine the connection between pre-service primary teachers’ skills of conceptualization and their attitudes towards reading. The study group of this research consists of 51 fourth grade students in Primary Education Program, Faculty of Education, Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. In this study, students were asked to write a composition about “window” to determine conceptualization skills and the data is analyzed using content analysis method. With the aim of determining students’ attitude towards reading, ‘A Scale to Measure Attitudes Toward Reading’ developed by İpek-Eğilmez and Özşavlı (2015) is used. Correlation analysis is conducted using SPSS 20.0 Package Program to determine the connection between form teacher candidates’ skill of conceptualization and attitude towards reading. As a result of the study, it is stated that there is a positive correlation between form teacher candidates’ skill of conceptualization and their attitudes toward reading.

Full Text
The concept of disability has several dynamics depending on different approaches. These perspectives can be named as medical, social and bio-psycho-social models. Disability is seen as individiual’s own problem by medical approach and as environment’s barriers by social view. On the other hand, bio-psyho-social model focus on disability with a perspective of human rights and equality. Such approach has also impact on hearing impairment or deafness. This study investigates deafness, deaf culture and identity by the help of such disability approaches. In many areas of life, deafness or hearing impairment turns into a barrier for deaf people to access services. Therefore, raising awareness toward deafness and provide equal educational, social and psychological services for all is one of important steps in this context. Aim of this study is to create awareness for not only disability issues but also deafness in order to increase accesibility of services.

Reassessing the FETO in the Context of Kant’s Understanding of the Law and Ethics
Abstract
|
Full Text
The number of communities such as congregations and sects, which nowadays are based on any religion, has increased. Kant did not regard some of these formations as genuine religious communities because the true religious community sees no violation of any universal moral law for itself. Today, the most appropriate example of Kant’s true non-religious community is the Fethullah Terror Organization. As it is known, although the FETO terrorist organization lost its effectiveness in our country, it continues its activities in many countries. In this study, the FETO terrorist organization is considered as one of the most important philosophers in the history of moral philosophy. In the Kant approach, genuine religious communities see God as the universal legislator to be respected. For this reason, they do not want others to do what they do not want. According to Kant, the respect for the law is to respect the man and also God. Therefore, Kant’s understanding of the ethical and legal laws is included in the study. In the last part of the study, some actions of the FETO terrorist organization (inter-religious dialogue process, 17-25 December period, treacherous coup attempt) were evaluated in the context of Kant’s ethics. In the study, it is concluded that FETO, who claims to be based on a religion when it is considered within the framework of Kant’s approach, is an international organization which conducts praises sessions, regularly asking for help from the divine being deprived of the content and presenting them in prayer sessions.
