Submitted articles or manuscripts are evaluated by the publication coordination board in the first step. In this evaluation process, if the manuscript needs to be corrected in terms of shape, the manuscript is sent back to the author with the necessary correction information. The correction in terms of style does not mean that the article has been accepted. After making corrections in terms of style, the article is evaluated by the editor’s board for content evaluation.
Scientific studies or manuscripts uploaded to KALEM are preliminarily evaluated by the editors of the relevant departments in terms of form, writing language, validity and accuracy of the statistics used, originality, conformity to the journal and meeting publication policies. Studies that do not have the required features are returned to the author/s.
Articles or manuscripts that are deemed appropriate for the evaluation process are directed to the relevant editor of the field. The editor of the field can reject the article by justifying it in its first evaluation in terms of content and suitability or sends it anonymously to at least two and up to three referees for evaluation. The referees are selected from the referee pool of Kalem International Journal of Education and Human Sciences according to the expertise areas of the referees.
During the referee evaluation process, the referees evaluate the article in terms of its suitability to the journal, its subject, originality, the nature of the content, the text and the form elements, the research methods, and the correct data processing, the citations and references or the bibliography. The referees are given 25 days for the evaluation process. Referees can either reject the article, accept it exactly, or accept it after seeing small/big changes.
The editor of the field can review the referees' reports, reject the article or send it to the author to make corrections for the process to continue. The suggestions from the referee and the editor of the field must be completed and re-uploaded by the author/s within 6 weeks. After these corrections, the article is re-examined by the referees and the field editor and an evaluation report are prepared. As a result of this examination, the referees can decide the suitability of the article as well as request re-correction. Authors/authors are entitled to a maximum of 3 corrections.
Communication authority between the authors and the referees is in the editorial coordination committee.
As a result of the corrections of the authors and the referees' opinions, the editor of the field makes his or her decision by reasoning and sends the article to the editorial board. The final decision is made by the editorial committee according to the results of the plagiarism inspection reports for articles with positive opinions regarding the acceptance of publications in line with the reviews of the referees and the editor of the field.
In this step, the author should send the plagiarism check report he/she received for the final version of the article by e-mail to info@kalemacademy.com via Turnitin and /iThenticate software. In light of the plagiarism audit report, the editorial board makes its final decision on the article. According to the report results, the article can be returned to the author or correction may be requested.
